Practical Uses / PanelsEdit

  • Factor XIIIa can be used in a panel with D2-40 and CD34 to differentiate between DFSP (factor XIIIa-, D2-40-, CD34+) and dermatofibroma (factor XIIIa+, D2-40+, CD34-).[1] However, exceptions occur.
  • Factor XIIIa is a pan-histiocytic marker, similar to CD68.

Common PitfallsEdit

  • Not specific for dermatofibroma.
