Practical Uses / PanelsEdit

Common PitfallsEdit

  • Hyalinizing trabecular tumors of thyroid  stain positively for HBME-1 as Papillary thyroid carcinoma and may result in misdiagnosis.[4]
  • HBME-1 is sensitive but not specific for mesothelioma and frequently stains adenocarcinoma.[2]
