Technical InfoEdit

Staining PatternEdit

  • Nuclear staining

Expression in Normal TissuesEdit

  • CD34 positive hematopoietic progenitor cells

Expression in Neoplastic EntitiesEdit

  • Spermatocytic seminoma[1]

Intermediate/Uncertain Malignant PotentialEdit

  • Intratubular germ cell neoplasia (ITGCN)
  • Classic seminoma
  • Embryonal Carcinoma
  • Choriocarcinoma (some)
  • Teratoma (some)
  • Yolk Sac (Endodermal sinus) tumor (100%)[2]

Expression in Non-Neoplastic EntitiesEdit

Pertinent NegativesEdit

This antigen is typically NOT expressed by the following entities:

  • Clear cell carcinoma of the ovary[1]

Practical Uses / PanelsEdit

  • SALL4 is more sensitive than PLAP, Glypican-3 and AFP for yolk sac tumors and shows more diffuse and strong staining.
